Subsidisation for electric cars on the up

Vaduz – The Impulsprogramm E-Mobilität, an e-mobility funding programme run by the LIFE Climate Foundation Liechtenstein and the Liechtenstein Power Company, is being expanded to subsidise a further 50 electric cars. In 2016, 50 electric cars were each subsidised with CHF 3,000.

“We understand that the programme has been really well received – both on the part of the economy as well as private households,” commented Sven Braden, deputy head of the LIFE Climate Foundation Liechtenstein, in a statement about the foundation’s joint funding programme with the Liechtenstein Power Company (LKW). “The decision-making parties within LIFE and LKW also deem the project to have been successful.”

The Impulsprogramm E-Mobilität, which launched last March, supports the purchase and registration of electric cars in Liechtenstein with up to CHF 3,000 for vehicles that cost at least CHF 20,000. The subsidy decreases accordingly for cheaper models. It also provides subsidisation for leased vehicles, provided the contract has a duration of at least three years. In order to receive a subsidy, the vehicle must be registered in Liechtenstein.

Until further notice, applications can be made directly with the Liechtenstein Power Company or on its website. Private individuals can apply for a maximum of one subsidy, while legal entities are entitled to apply for up to two. There are no legal claims to the acceptance of an application.
