The Leverkusen-headquartered materials manufacturer Covestro has become the first partner of the recently founded International Committee for Clean Technology (ICCT). The committee is the brainchild of Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg, the founders and pilots of the solar aeroplane Solar Impulse. Following its successful round-the-world flight, the aircraft will become the legacy of the project to fill the world with enthusiasm for clean technologies.

As Covestro reported in a statement, it will serve on the board of the Solar Impulse Foundation from 2017, thus sharing responsibility for the new ICCT. The German company has been part of the Solar Impulse project since the beginning. For example, it provided high-tech materials that made the round-the-world flight possible.
