Landis+Gyr develops smart grid technologies including solutions for integrating energy storage systems and smart metering. Its latest Energy and Capacity Optimization System (ECOS) draws together additional aspects from its performance spectrum by combining communication, control and data management technologies. ECOS offers utilities a flexible solution to monitor and manage their distribution network, according to a press release.

ECOS offers planning tools to help utilities identify potential problem areas in their grid. It then uses data from sensors and control of distribution equipment to perform voltage optimisation or consumer load management. Its modular design allows tailored applications for each utility customer.

The new system is a part of Landis+Gyr’s long-term strategy to address energy distribution challenges in a rapidly changing environment for utilities.
