The Swiss sustainability prize for “beacons of hope” is awarded to people in the public eye who demonstrate flair with sustainability, according to eco.ch. The organisation’s affairs are managed by the company ecos. Since its launch in 2005, it has dedicated itself to sustainable development in Switzerland. Previous winners of the “Hoffnungsträger” prize include Bertrand Piccard, the initiator of solar aeroplane project Solar Impulse

Thanks to her work, Rebecca Clopath is a role model for sustainable development, writes eco.ch. Since 2009, she has been working in the Nova-Regio kitchen in Escholzmatt in the canton of Lucerne. In 2010, she was named world champion at the Swiss Junior Culinary Championships. As an ambassador for Max Havelaar, she has been advocating fair trade since 2013.

Clopath will accept her award on 27th May, when the winners from the “Generation Zukunft” (future generation) and “Hauptpreis” (main prize) will also receive their awards. The ceremony will take place in Theater Basel.
