The Swiss PV quality label, which was awarded to the Solar Rafz cooperative, was introduced by Electrosuisse, the association for electrical, engineering, power and information technology, writes Helion Solar in a news release. The label guarantees that the photovoltaic system will operate smoothly over a long period of time, explains the newspaper ZürcherUnterländer. “With the quality label that we developed, we want these requirements to be met,” says Peter Arnold from Electrosuisse.

The photovoltaic system was created via a consortium (ARGE) between Helion Solar and Dünki Solar GmbH in Rafz. The system has 636 modules spread out over an area of 1,000 square metres. The east-west orientation allows the maximum amount of solar energy to be captured over the course of the day. Producing 150,000 kWh of electricity, it can cover the energy supply of 40 four-person households.

Franz Baumgartner, professor at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur, praised the developments: “We are testing various modules on the roof of the former Technikum building to harness solar energy. The trend is advancing rapidly.”
