Implenia released the study together with market experts from JLL. One of their key findings is that the location of the property plays a decisive role in whether it should be repurposed as housing. “Office properties in need of renovation and for which there is little demand but which are situated in urban centres with a limited supply of housing are especially attractive,” writes Implenia in a news release.
In addition to mitigating the housing shortage, repurposing also offers benefits to investors. The potential for properties in what is known as “the second row” and in peripheral districts is often underestimated, writes Implenia. But it can only be realised if reliable cost estimates are combined with innovative ideas.
