The Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency (EPEA) and Professor Michael Braungart have been invited to present their recycling design concept at this year’s Biennale in Venice, writes EPEA in a press release. Braungart founded EPEA in 1987 and is today its CEO in Hamburg.

The invitation to the Biennale, which takes place from 28 May to 27 November, was extended by this year’s director Alejandro Aravena, a prize-winning architect from Chile. The Cradle to Cradle concept will be presented in one of the exhibition rooms in the central pavilion (Giardini).

Braungart developed the Cradle to Cradle concept together with the American architect William McDonough. Products designed according to this concept recycle and re-use raw materials over multiple biological life cycles, eventually decomposing to organic nutrients. EPEA supports companies develop Cradle to Cradle services and products and achieve eco-effective processes.

The architectural Biennale is a great opportunity to present the Cradle to Cradle concept, writes EPEA Switzerland, which is located in Bäch in the canton of Schwzy. “With the Cradle to Cradle design concept we can change the built environment. It is possible to make buildings beneficial for humans and nature: healthy material banks which are cleaning the air, the water and supporting biodiversity and ecosystems.”
