In addition to the Elektrizitätswerken des Kantons Zürich (EKZ), the other participants in the study were the Swiss Federal Office for Energy, EnergySwitzerland, the consumer affairs television programme SRF Kassensturz, the Swiss Agency for Energy Efficiency and a German testing and certification institute. The results showed that filament LEDs were the winner among energy-efficient lighting fixtures.
According to the study’s results, the save more electricity than LED and halogen lamps, emit a natural-looking light and do not contain any mercury, explains the EKZ in a news release.
The EKZ now plans to offer a specific type of these filament lamps at a discounted price to promote energy efficiency.
