According to a news release, Implenia was commissioned by the Norwegian network operator Statnett to carry out infrastructure works. The contract, worth around CHF 23 million, includes various complex civil engineering jobs as well as tunnelling a 2.4 kilometre stretch. Implenia will contribute excavation, blasting and tunnelling to the project and set up converter stations as well as water, fire, drainage and sewerage systems.

The 720-kilometre-long subsea cable will run between Blyth in England and Kvilldal in Norway. The NSN Link will be completed by 2021. Implenia’s work on the project is scheduled to start in August 2015 and should be completed by summer 2017.
