In a news release, the managing company of the Swiss Technology Fund, which is assisted by South Pole Group, explains that Joulia SA has developed an innovative heat recovery module that can save between 25 to 50 per cent of heat energy. The product is invisibly integrated into a channel in the shower floor and recovers heat energy from the warm shower water as it goes down the drain to pre-heat the incoming cold water.
“The loan guarantee accelerates our investment in commercialisation and industrialisation. In addition we plan to promote product trainings and sales,” says Joulia SA CEO Reto Schmid. The so-called Joulia-inline technology is already being used in dozens of flagship projects. “Joulia-inline is a convincing combination of standardisation and simple installation,” adds Simone Riedel Riley, general manager of the Technology Fund. The company is already cooperating with a premium supplier of bathroom products and plans to launch the module onto the market in January 2016.
The Technology Fund is a climate policy instrument implemented by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. It grants loan guarantees of up to CHF 3 million to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that develop and market innovative technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, use electrical energy more efficiently, promote renewable energy or protect natural resources.
