In a news release, Leclanché CEO Anil Srivastava said: “These customer wins will boost growth in the Speciality Battery Systems Business Unit by broadening its customer base. The repeat business and serial deployment opportunities for such battery systems are particularly helpful in generating good cash flow for the company in due course”.

Scotia, Leclanché’s long-term partner in Denmark, designed and developed a state-of-the-art lighting mast with PV solar panels fully integrated in the surface of the mast, LED lighting on the top, and a smart control and battery pack all situated inside the mast. Leclanché has already delivered 200 battery modules for deployment in Saudi Arabia, making them the world’s first lithium-ion titanate battery-based system for this application. The system is capable of working in harsh environments with temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius.

Leclanché’s Belgium unit, formed as a result of the recent acquisition of Trineuron, won a major order for battery storage systems in the field of automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), explains the news release. The customer opted for Leclanché technology due to its environmentally friendly chemistry in comparison to other batteries containing heavy metals such as cadmium or lead.
