Qualcomm, one of the leading providers of next-generation wireless technologies, and Brusa have entered into a patent licence agreement, according to a news release. Under the terms of the agreement, Brusa has licenced Qualcomm patented inventions to commercialise Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) systems for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Headquartered in Sennwald in the canton of St.Gallen, Brusa is a pioneer in the field of wireless charging for electric vehicles thanks to its ICS system. Brusa is currently working to develop, make and supply WEVC systems for certain automobile manufacturers.

Brusa is making good progress on the race tracks as its technology helped the team from the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Ravensburg achieve fourth place overall at the Formula Student Germany (FSG) race. That the car only had two engines unlike the four used in the better-paced electric racing cars makes the results all the more remarkable, writes Brusa. Three other teams equipped with Brusa components came in 16th, 17th and 28th.
