The certification confirms that the Landis+Gyr E450 smart meters conform to G3-PLC specifications and are compatible with other G3-PLC certified devices. These enable fast and cost-efficient data transfer over existing power lines. Landis+Gyr is the first company in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to receive this certification, according to a news release.
The certification tests were carried about by a third-party testing laboratory in France, the Laboratoire des Applications Numériques, which has been nominated by G3 PLC Alliance to run the tests. The G3-PLC Alliance is an organisation whose members come from the smart grid sector, including utility companies such as Germany’s E.on and France’s EDF, as well as technology groups like Cisco, Toshiba and Landis+Gyr. Its objective is to promote G3-PLC technology in smart grid applications.
