Swiss company Rinspeed, which is based in Zumikon in the canton of Zurich, has previously exhibited its spectacular concept vehicles and innovative ideas at the Geneva Motor Show. Now, for the first time, Rinspeed founder and director Frank M. Rinderknecht is celebrating a world premiere outside Switzerland. The self-driving sports car “Σtos“ will be exhibited at the CES 2016 trade show in Las Vegas. Rinderknecht said: “The major and especially the disruptive innovations in future automotive engineering will come from the digital realm. That is why all major manufacturers and suppliers are now present at the CES Consumer Electronic Show.”

“Σtos“ was developed from the point of view of drivers and passengers, reported a Rinspeed press release. Thanks to the use of Harman Connected Car technologies, the system in the “Σtos“ hybrid sports car acts just like a personal assistant. The interior adapts to the driving situation. For example, if the driver does not want to steer, the steering wheel folds up into the dashboard. It also has a drone with its own landing pad on the rear end, which could collect orders or take videos of the journey and surroundings from the air. The Rinspeed “Σtos“ is the 22nd concept vehicle designed at the federal “Innovation Lab.”
