digitalSTROM’s new application for Tesla electric cars is now ready for series production. It exemplifies that networking does not have to stop at the front door, explains the company. Following online registration, digitalSTROM customers can take advantage of the application – and enjoy all the functionalities of their smart homes in their cars as well. For example, the application can control outdoor lighting or garage doors. Completely individual processes – such as turning the heating up, activating outdoor lighting or opening the garage door at the touch of a button – are also possible.

The offering came to fruition thanks to the open interfaces used by digitalSTROM, which could facilitate similar possibilities in future. “We are convinced that this is the right way to quickly integrate more and more products and services – or, in this case, vehicles – as part of the Internet of Things in a safe, simple and cost-effective fashion, as well as to quickly expand to include new functions in the future,” commented company director Martin Vesper.
