The VUNA (Valorisation of Urine Nutrients in Africa) recycling process was recently displayed as part of an exhibition at the Umwelt Arena (Environment Arena) in Spreitenbach.

“We see the exhibition in the Environment Arena as a unique opportunity to promote our technology to a wider audience over a reasonable long period of time and to raise awareness among the public about wastewater recycling,” said Bastian Etter of Eawag, who is in charge of the display.

According to Eawag, VUNA is a sanitation system that is affordable, produces a valuable fertiliser, promotes entrepreneurship and reduces water pollution. It was developed for rural areas in Africa.
