The photovoltaic power plant will be built on the Riverside area in Zuchwil in the canton of Solothurn, according to a news release from Helion Solar. The company has partnered with Swiss Prime Site, which is developing the site, to outfit the roof of the production hall with 330 solar panels. The power plant will cover an area equivalent to six football fields.
The total power generated would be enough to supply a third of Zuchwil’s population with electricity for one year, explains Helion Solar. This would correspond to saving 550 tonnes of CO2 annually. Helion Solar’s website allows visitors to follow the plant’s construction with live images.
